NTUC LinkPoints now convert to KrisFlyer miles at a fixed cost of 2 cents per mile, regardless of the number of points transferred – poor value unless a transfer bonus is offered.
Since April 2022, it’s been possible to transfer LinkPoints accrued from your shopping at outlets including NTUC FairPrice, Unity Pharmacy and Caltex petrol stations into KrisFlyer miles, while in the other direction you can also ‘cash out’ your KrisFlyer miles into LinkPoints if you wish, to redeem against future shopping spend.
KrisFlyer to LinkPoints transfers never made sense, originally giving you 0.65 cents per mile against future shopping but more recently following a devaluation in 2024, only 0.59 cents per mile – the current rate.
That means LinkPoints to KrisFlyer transfers been the only option offering some value – not particularly compelling, but acceptable if you had no better use for them.
LinkPoints trims KrisFlyer transfer options
LinkPoints can be redeemed at 1 cent each against future purchases (e.g. 100 LinkPoints = S$1 rebate), in-store at NTUC FairPrice for example, so you’re effectively paying a cost per mile when transferring to KrisFlyer by losing out on this cashback opportunity.
Since inception, LinkPoints to KrisFlyer transfers have been possible at five different conversion levels, with the top two (2,000 LinkPoints and 5,000 LinkPoints) offering slightly better value.
LinkPoints to KrisFlyer
Conversion denominations
(till 7th July 2025)
LinkPoints | KrisFlyer miles | Effective Cost per mile* |
100 | 50 | 2.00¢ |
200 | 100 | |
1,000 | 500 | |
2,000 | 1,070 | 1.87¢ |
5,000 | 2,680 |
* Based on the cashback opportunity you are losing out on
As you can see, at these levels you could ‘buy’ KrisFlyer miles at 1.87 cents each – close to where we think you should still get good value from, assuming a Saver Business Class or First Class redemption at current award rates.
The bad news is that LinkPoints has removed these two options, effective from 8th July 2025, leaving only the 2:1 ratio conversion categories in place.

200 | 100 | |

That means it’s now only possible to ‘buy’ KrisFlyer miles via a LinkPoints transfer for 2 cents each.

Transfer Ratio LinkPoints KrisFlyer miles or 2 : 1 |

For example, if you accrue 100 LinkPoints from S$200 of spend, that can be converted to 50 KrisFlyer miles.
100 LinkPoints = S$1 rebate, so in this case you’d have to consider KrisFlyer miles worth 2 cents or more each to make the transfer, which isn’t very attractive unless you just need a small top-up.
There remains no limit on the number of LinkPoints you can transfer to KrisFlyer miles per year, and transfers are instant.
Transfer bonuses can improve matters
2 cents per mile is too steep a price to pay for KrisFlyer miles in our book.
Occasional transfer bonuses from LinkPoints to KrisFlyer are where the value improves here – a 20% bonus in June 2023 and a 25% bonus in February 2024 meant a cost per mile of 1.67 cents and 1.49 cents respectively – definitely worth considering.
There has been no deal this year so far, but outside a transfer bonus there is almost no benefit in a LinkPoints to KrisFlyer transfer any more, except as mentioned for an instant, small top-up – if you really need one.
KrisFlyer to LinkPoints transfers make less sense than ever
The poorer side of this deal has always been a transfer from your hard-earned KrisFlyer miles into LinkPoints, which like most options to ‘cash out’ of the programme results in poor value.
You can convert KrisFlyer miles into LinkPoints at a rate of 3,000 miles to 1,770 points.

Transfer Ratio KrisFlyer miles LinkPoints 3,000 : 1,770 |
Every KrisFlyer mile will only net you 0.59 LinkPoints at this conversion ratio, with a minimum transfer of 3,000 KrisFlyer miles enforced per conversion.
It effectively means netting just 0.59 cents of value for every KrisFlyer mile converted.
As you may recall, KrisFlyer recently hiked the value of a range of ‘cash out’ options for its miles to a harmonised 1 cent each, including offsetting a cash fare on any available SIA or Scoot flight, transfers to KrisPay miles (Kris+) and part or full payment for KrisShop purchases.
Cash-out value for KrisFlyer miles
July 2025
Option | Min. Expiring Miles | Value per mile |
Redeem an SIA or partner award flight | 8,500 | 1.90¢+ |
Transfer to Velocity points | 5,000 | 1.03¢ |
Transfer to Kris+ |
10 | 1.00¢ |
Offset a KrisShop purchase |
1,000 | 1.00¢ |
Redeem a Pelago experience | 1,000 | 1.00¢ |
Offset an SIA or Scoot cash fare | 1,000 | 1.00¢ |
Redeem a vRooms hotel stay | 1,200 | 0.80¢ |
Transfer to Shangri-La points | 20,000 | 0.74¢ |
Transfer to CapitaStar | 3,000 | 0.70¢ |
Transfer to Accor Live Limitless | 4,500 | 0.64¢ |
Transfer to LinkPoints | 3,000 | 0.59¢ |
Transfer to Esso Smiles | 3,000 | 0.47¢ to 0.67¢ |
Transfer to Marriott Bonvoy | 3,000 | 0.50¢ |
As you can see this transfer option is now almost on a par with the worst thing you can do with your KrisFlyer miles, short of letting them expire, since it now comes in over 40% poorer value than a transfer to Kris+ (KrisPay miles), which can be redeemed at over 400 merchants across Singapore.
Indeed you can actually redeem Kris+ miles for FairPrice Online, FairPrice Finest or FairPrice Xtra vouchers at the far better 1 cent per mile rate, 69% more than you’ll get for a cash offset at the checkout using miles transferred directly from KrisFlyer to LinkPoints!
If you do go down the KrisFlyer to LinkPoints transfer route (even having seen the above table!), note that a maximum of 80,000 KrisFlyer miles can be transferred to LinkPoints per calendar year.
If you are a member of Link Rewards programme, your account will be linked to your KrisFlyer account automatically upon the first successful conversion of KrisFlyer miles to LinkPoints, through the ‘Miles > How To Use > Link Rewards’ section of your KrisFlyer account at singaporeair.com.

If you were transferring accrued LinkPoints into KrisFlyer miles, you were no doubt doing so at the better-value 1.87:1 ratio offered by the 2,000 and 5,000 LinkPoints conversion options.
Unfortunately these conversion tiers have now been axed, which represents a devaluation for frequent shoppers at NTUC outlets who previously relied on them to extract what we might consider “ok” value from their accumulated points.
With the fixed 2:1 ratio now in place, you’re effectively paying 2 cents per KrisFlyer mile – a price that’s simply too steep for regular transfers unless you urgently need a small top-up to complete a specific redemption.
You’re better off using your LinkPoints for their intended 1 cent cashback value at checkout rather than converting to KrisFlyer miles. Meanwhile, the reverse transfer from KrisFlyer to LinkPoints remains one of the worst ways to extract value from your miles, offering just 0.59 cents per mile when superior options like Kris+ transfers now provide 69% better value.
Going forward, watch out for occasional transfer bonuses that might restore some appeal for LinkPoints to KrisFlyer conversions, but the current fixed rates make this partnership even less attractive than it once was.
