If you hold the *chase sapphire reserve*, there’s an easy way to earn 5,000 bonus Air Canada Aeroplan points – for free.
Air Canada is offering Sapphire Reserve cardholders a 5,000-point flight reward certificate to use toward a future Aeroplan award ticket. But you won’t get it automatically: You’ll need to register by August 18, 2025, to claim your bonus.
It’s a simple, no-strings-attached perk for travelers with Chase’s top-tier travel card. Aeroplan is one of our favorite programs for booking business and first class award flights – not just on Air Canada, but with its excellent partners like Lufthansa, SWISS, Turkish Airlines, United and more. And this is just the latest in a growing list of unique benefits Aeroplan is offering Sapphire Reserve cardholders.
Here’s how it works – and how to claim your 5,000-point certificate in just a few minutes.
How to Claim Your Free 5,000-Point Aeroplan Certificate
You’re eligible if you have the Chase Sapphire Reserve card – but you’ll need to register by Aug. 18, 2025!
You can do this by going to the dedicated promo page and entering your name, Aeroplan account number, and the last four digits of your Sapphire Reserve card number. If you don’t yet have an Aeroplan account, you’ll need to create one before registering.
Once you do, you’ll get a 5,000-point flight reward certificate deposited into your Aeroplan account within 14 days. The certificate is valid for 365 days from the date it’s issued.
This isn’t a traditional point bonus: You’ll get a one-time certificate that knocks 5,000 points off the price of a new Aeroplan award booking – whether that’s a short domestic hop or a lie-flat business class seat across the Atlantic.
Additional Fine Print Worth Noting
- You must register between August 5 at 12:01 a.m. EST and August 18 at 11:59 p.m. EST to qualify.
- Only the primary Sapphire Reserve cardmember is eligible – authorized users don’t count.
- You’ll only receive one 5,000-point flight reward certificate per Chase card and Aeroplan account.
- The name on your Aeroplan account must match the name on your Chase Sapphire Reserve account exactly.
- The certificate can only be used on the base fare in points of a new Aeroplan award booking. It can’t be split, transferred, or applied to existing bookings; taxes and fees still apply.

Why It Matters
This is an easy win if you hold the Sapphire Reserve – and especially if you’re already using Aeroplan for international or domestic award travel. Registration only takes a few minutes.
With one-way redemptions often starting around 6,000 to 12,500 points, this voucher could cover nearly half of a short-haul flight or help you book a big international trip across the pond for even less.
And since Aeroplan is a transfer partner of Chase Ultimate Rewards®, this certificate stacks nicely with your existing points. You can top off your Aeroplan balance by transferring Chase points (or points from Amex, Capital One, and Bilt) and apply this voucher to stretch them even further.
This new partnership is the latest tie-up between Air Canada and Chase, which also happens to be the bank that issues the U.S. version of the co-branded Aeroplan credit card. Last fall, Air Canada added Maple Leaf Lounge access for Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders at select airports – even on domestic U.S. flights.
