KrisFlyer launches poor-value transfers from miles to yuu Rewards points
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles can now be converted to yuu Points, but with a poor transfer ratio – avoid this one.

Back in October 2024, it became possible to transfer the DFI Retail Group’s yuu Rewards Club points into the Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer programme, meaning points accrued at the likes of Cold Storage, Giant and Guardian can now be turned into redemption opportunities.

Singapore Airlines has now announced that effective from 1st April 2025, the transfer partnership has become a two-way deal, so you can now transfer your KrisFlyer miles into yuu Points, as well as being able to convert from yuu Points to KrisFlyer.

The transfer ratio

You’ll receive 1.325 yuu Points for every 1 Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer mile you convert.

Transfer Ratio

KrisFlyer miles    yuu Points

1 : 1.325

You’ll need to convert a minimum of 2,000 KrisFlyer miles to yuu Points per transfer, thereafter transfers can be made in single-mile increments.

An upper cap of 80,000 KrisFlyer miles transferred per calendar year (1 Jan – 31 Dec) applies.

How to transfer

To transfer your KrisFlyer miles to yuu Points, log on via the desktop site, then go to Profile > Partner Programmes.

Simply click ‘Convert your miles’ then scroll down to ‘Other redemption options’ and click the yuu link.

Then simply complete the conversion form, including your yuu Rewards account number, if not already linked.

Upon your first successful conversion, your KrisFlyer account will be automatically linked to your yuu account. Once the accounts are linked, this cannot be changed.

Once a conversion from KrisFlyer miles to yuu Points is completed, it cannot be reversed and/or refunded.

In the above example with a 2,000 KrisFlyer miles to 2,650 yuu Points transfer, you’d have to make a fresh transfer of 2,650 yuu Points back to KrisFlyer miles, which will result in you getting only 737 miles back – so don’t experiment with this!

While transfers from yuu Points to KrisFlyer miles are instant, the transfer time in the opposite direction from KrisFlyer miles to yuu Points hasn’t been stated yet.

Is it worth it?

Not really.

yuu Points are worth 0.5 Singapore cents each, so at the 1:1.325 transfer ratio, you’re cashing out your KrisFlyer miles at 0.66 cents each, which is among the worst value you can get from them.

Here’s how it looks against the other options.

Cash alternatives for KrisFlyer miles

Method Min. miles Value per mile
Credit towards an SIA or Scoot cash ticket 1,050 0.95¢
Redeem a KrisShop purchase 1,000 0.80¢
Redeem a vRooms hotel stay
1,500 ~0.80¢
Transfer to Shangri-La points for hotel stays 20,000 0.74¢
Transer to Kris+ 15 0.67¢
Redeem a Pelago experience 1,050 0.67¢
Transfer to yuu Points 2,000 ~0.66¢
Transfer to LinkPoints 3,000 0.59¢
Transfer to Esso Smiles points
3,000 0.47¢
to
0.67¢
Transfer to Marriott Bonvoy points 3,000 ~0.50¢

Even a transfer to KrisPay miles in the Kris+ app will get you 0.67 cents per mile valuation against future purchases at a wide range of stores across Singapore, while on the hotel side a KrisFlyer vRooms hotel redemption stay will net around 0.8 cents of value per mile.

Of course the best value for your KrisFlyer miles remains a flight redemption on Singapore Airlines or a partner carrier, which you can lock in up to a year in advance (even if your miles are expiring tomorrow!), so do aim for that option first.

yuu Points to KrisFlyer miles

As we mentioned earlier, it’s been possible to transfer yuu Points into KrisFlyer miles for around six months now.

This allows you to convert yuu points at a ratio of 3.6:1 into 1 KrisFlyer mile (3.6:1 ratio).

Transfer Ratio

yuu Points    KrisFlyer miles

3.6 : 1

You’ll need to convert a minimum of 200 yuu Points to KrisFlyer miles per transfer, thereafter transfers can be made in single-point increments.

There is no cap on the number of transfers you can make from yuu Points to KrisFlyer miles, nor any upper cap on the total transfer quantity per year.

This recent alternative to the yuu programme’s traditional cashback offering, which of course still remains an option for members, means that transferring your points to KrisFlyer miles instead only makes sense if you value the latter at a higher rate than the regular rebates offered.

At this rate, you’re effectively cashing out yuu Points at 1.8 cents each for KrisFlyer miles – worth considering if you redeem miles for SIA’s premium cabins, but not necessarily a must-do for everyone.

You can transfer yuu Rewards points to KrisFlyer miles via the yuu app on your smartphone (App Store | Google Play Store).

Prior to your first transfer from yuu to KrisFlyer, you’ll need to confirm your KrisFlyer account number. You can then proceed with your transfer.

Tip: Transfer at optimal ratios

While the headline ratio for yuu Points to KrisFlyer miles conversion is 3.6:1, this rounds up to the next whole KrisFlyer mile when converting, so a transfer of 353 – 356 yuu Points (98.1 – 98.9 miles at the 3.6:1 ratio) will give you 99 miles in your account.

In this case, the ratio is actually slightly better at the lower end (i.e. don’t waste 356 yuu Points for 99 miles when 353 yuu Points will give you exactly the same thing!).

The best ratio you can get here is therefore at the lower end – 209 yuu Points to 59 KrisFlyer miles (3.542:1).

For example, if you have 2,090 yuu Points, those will give you 581 KrisFlyer miles when processed as a single conversion. Instead – just make 10 separate transfers of 209 yuu Points to KrisFlyer miles, which will give you 590 KrisFlyer miles in total.

It may not seem like much, but every mile is valuable!

You can now transfer your KrisFlyer miles to yuu Points, but unfortunately the 1:1.325 transfer ratio is not attractive, adding to the list of the worst ways you can cash out your miles.

On the flip side, converting yuu Points to KrisFlyer miles at an effective rate of 1.8 cents per point remains a decent option, particularly if you’re eyeing premium cabin redemptions. However, as always, it’s essential to compare against alternatives to determine if it aligns with your spending strategy.

Ultimately, unless you’re in urgent need of poor cashback-equivalent value, holding onto your KrisFlyer miles for flight redemptions remains the smartest play.
