Scoot expands to Da Nang, Kota Bharu, Nha Trang from Singapore

Scoot has announced an expansion of its Southeast Asian network, with the launch of three new routes from Singapore Changi Airport. The Singapore Airlines low-cost subsidiary will commence flights to Da Nang and Nha Trang in Vietnam, as well as Kota Bharu in Malaysia, between October and November 2025.

Two of these destinations – Kota Bharu and Nha Trang – are new additions to Changi Airport’s network, offering a welcome boost following Jetstar Asia’s upcoming withdrawal from Singapore at the end of this month. That exit will see around 1 in 20 flights disappear from the hub’s departure board, along with four unique destinations previously available to Lion City residents.

Encouragingly, Scoot also plans to restore at least two of these lost links in the upcoming winter season – Labuan Bajo and Okinawa – though firm schedules for these routes have yet to be announced.

Da Nang

Scoot will launch its Singapore – Da Nang service on 20th October 2025, becoming the third carrier to operate this route alongside Singapore Airlines and Vietjet.

Da Nang is the central gateway to Vietnam’s multiple UNESCO World Heritage sites on the east coast, that also includes beach resorts, the iconic Dragon Bridge, and the historical town of Hoi An.

The first three flights on this route will actually happen in the final week of the summer 2025 season, using Airbus A320 aircraft, as shown in the following schedule.

Flights to this popular destination will then use Airbus A321neo aircraft, initially with three weekly flights before increasing to daily service from December 2025.

Singapore Airlines has scaled back its twice-daily Boeing 737-8 MAX services to Da Nang during the current northern summer season, operating just a single daily flight between July and October 2025.

However, the full-service carrier will reinstate twice-daily flights from late October this year, bringing the group’s total to three daily services on the route by December 2025.

Kota Bharu

Scoot previously operated flights between Singapore and Kota Bharu, launching the route with three times weekly Airbus A320 services in July 2019. However, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020 brought these flights to a halt.

Now Kota Bharu is being re-added to the network, after a five year hiatus.

This time the carrier will operate a more cautious twice weekly schedule to this lesser-known Malaysian city using smaller and more fuel-efficient Embraer E190-E2 aircraft.

Aside from the city itself, Kota Bharu offers access to Malaysia’s Perhentian Islands via a short ferry ride, popular for scuba diving and jungle trails.

Nha Trang

The newest addition to Scoot’s Vietnam network, Nha Trang is set to be connected to Singapore by direct flights for the first time.

Vietnam Airlines did plan to commence twice-weekly flights to the popular beach resort in June 2022, but these never materialised.

That’s meant a transit in Ho Chi Minh or Kuala Lumpur has been the quickest way to reach Nha Trang from Singapore, though the shortest journeys with a protected connection currently take around five to six hours.

Scoot will fly to Nha Trang twice per week starting on 21st November 2025, using the Embraer E190-E2 aircraft, cutting journey times to only 2 hours 20 minutes.

Fares and booking

To celebrate the launch of these new routes, Scoot has introduced promotional fares for early bookers. The introductory one-way fares from Singapore are:

• Singapore – Da Nang: From S$118
• Singapore – Kota Bharu: From S$78
• Singapore – Nha Trang: From S$138

We found even cheaper fares available for travel in the return direction back to Singapore from these cities:

• Kota Bharu – Singapore: From S$35
• Nha Trang – Singapore: From S$109

These promotional fares offer flexible travel periods spanning through to June 2026. All three new routes are now available for booking on Scoot’s website and mobile app.

Network expansion

Following these additions, Scoot will operate 115 weekly flights to 12 cities in Malaysia, as well as 44 weekly flights to five cities in Vietnam.

Beyond these new destinations, Scoot is also enhancing connectivity on existing routes with frequency increases for several destinations scheduled from the end of October 2025. The airline plans to increase flight frequencies to cities such as Jakarta, Manila, Hat Yai, Perth and Sydney.

Looking ahead, Scoot has also announced plans to launch service to Medan and Labuan Bajo in Indonesia, plus Okinawa in Japan, subject to regulatory approvals.

These potential additions would be welcome replacements for Jetstar Asia services, as the Qantas Group carrier winds up operations on 31st July 2025.

Jetstar was operating five times weekly to Medan (already ceased), and currently flies twice per week to Labuan Bajo and six times per week to Okinawa, until the end of this month.

Earn but don’t burn miles on Scoot

As you probably recall, you’ll earn some KrisFlyer miles based on the cash fare for your Scoot flight, which is always better than nothing.

On the redemption side, however, KrisFlyer works on a fixed value basis for offsetting Scoot cash fares at a lousy 1 Singapore cents per mile.

Our ‘golden rule’ when flying Scoot, therefore, is that you should be saving your precious KrisFlyer miles for their true value – a Singapore Airlines redemption – not a Scoot booking!

It means Scoot won’t offer a good KrisFlyer miles redemption option on any of its new Southeast Asia services, because awards on the low-cost carrier are revenue-based, and lousy value.

Scoot’s is expanding its network to include Da Nang, Kota Bharu and Nha Trang later this year, with the latter two cities representing brand new or re-established links for Changi Airport, particularly Nha Trang which finally gets its first direct connection to Singapore.

Promotional fares are already loaded, starting at S$78 to Kota Bharu, and just S$35 in the return direction.

Scoot is also planning to further expand its network to help offset the loss of Jetstar Asia services later this year, including flights to Medan, Labuan Bajo and Okinawa, with details on those routes expected once regulatory approvals are firmed up.
