It wasn’t too long ago that Frisco, Texas, was just another small town in the Lone Star State. But much like the rest of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, Frisco has experienced rapid growth in both population and development over the past decades. One of its newest additions, however, is a true hospitality standout, even in an area that certainly doesn’t lack big-name hotel players.
Omni PGA Frisco Resort & Spa opened its doors in May 2023 and was quickly voted the best hotel in Texas in Travel + Leisure’s 2024 World’s Best Awards, as well as one of the best hotels in the world on T+L’s 500 list.
“We’re creating one of America’s top destination resorts,” says Gus Tejeda, the hotel’s director of sales and marketing. “With incredible amenities around every corner—from our rooftop pool and Mokara Spa to the vibrant PGA District—there’s nothing quite like it.”
Admittedly, I’m not much of a golfer, and the closest I’ve gotten to playing the game involved Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour on GameCube. However, you certainly don’t need a Tiger Woods–level commitment to the sport to enjoy a stay here. With 13 different restaurants and bars, a splash pad and four kid-friendly pools, as well as one of the largest spas in the state, this resort is an all-around option for everyone. Plus, if you’re a sports fan, it’s hard to imagine a better place to stay than Frisco, which is home to five professional sports teams, including the Dallas Stars hockey team, the Texas Legends (the NBA G League affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks), and the Dallas Cowboys. You can also find the headquarters of the PGA of America right here in Frisco, just across the green at Omni PGA Frisco Resort & Spa.
The resort was once part of a Dallas businessman’s vast ranch. So even though it’s just 32 miles from the city’s historic downtown, it feels a world away from the hustle and bustle of the Big D. Trick Rider, a celebrity-favorite cowboy-chic watering hole, features a massive Swarovski crystal horse chandelier and is arguably one of the coolest hotel bars in the country.
The resort’s colossal size also allows it to host regular large-scale events. I was in town for the inaugural Savor Festival, a food bash celebrating Texas’ diverse, toothsome, and fast-growing culinary scene, featuring high-wattage guest chefs, including Kwame Onwuachi, Stephanie Izard, and Shota Nakajima. The festival had it all, from barbecue and ceviche to reimagined Dr. Pepper ice-cream floats. But at the end of a food-filled day, it was always a treat to return to my suite and listen to the still of the Texas night from my porch.
Here’s what it’s like to stay at the Omni PGA Frisco Resort & Spa.
The Rooms
There are 500 rooms and suites at the Omni PGA Frisco, as well as 10 four-bedroom Ranch House Villas. Guest room options range from a deluxe with a king-size bed to a premier, which has a private balcony and two queen-size beds.
I stayed in an 880-square-foot one-bedroom suite with a king-size bed and a view of the fairway. I also had a spacious living room with a pullout sofa, a custom-built liquor cabinet, and a bathroom with a separate shower and a deep soaking tub.
The crown jewel offering, however, is the Ranch House Villas, located right on the golf course. Clocking in at 2,300 square feet each, these residences feature four king bedrooms, an open floor plan, full kitchens, private patios, and 24/7 concierge service.
Food and Drink
There are 13 dining options on-site. The most memorable venue is Trick Rider, housing a Swarovski horse chandelier, named Cinnamon, and offering dinner service and “rodeo hour” (or happy hour). The vibe here is perhaps best described as a very upscale steakhouse. Guests can select from a large variety of meats, including 45-day dry-aged cuts of bovine as well as melt-in-the-mouth wagyu.
Other highlights include The Apron, serving breakfast, brunch, and lunch classics—think buttermilk pancakes, Texas-sized cinnamon buns, and mimosas. Perhaps one of the most unique food and beverage options in the resort is the sports bar-like Ice House, where you can feast on brisket, ribs, and smoked chicken, and use any of the six hitting bays.
For coffee and a quick bite, head to Toast & Tee Coffee Collective, while if you crave a light, healthy meal, your best bet is Green Cactus Café near the spa.
Activities and Experiences
Omni PGA Frisco Resort & Spa
As you have probably gathered by now (and by its name), the biggest draw here is golf. There are two 18-hole championship courses—one designed by Gil Hanse, the other by Beau Welling—along with a short course, a practice facility, and a two-acre putting green. And if the weather is not cooperating, guests can play a virtual game at the Lounge by Top Golf. For anyone who might need some instruction, there’s a 12,000-square-foot PGA Coaching Center for individual and group lessons. In addition, in June, the hotel held the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, and in 2027, it will host the PGA Championship.
There’s plenty in store for non-golfers, too. Along with the Savor Festival, Omni PGA Frisco has other signature events, such as its annual Fireworks on The Fairway (a celebration of Independence Day) and Home on The Range for The Holidays.
The Spa
At 15,000 square feet, Omni PGA Frisco’s Mokara Spa has it all, including whirlpools, saunas, steam rooms, and a private pool with cabanas for spa guests.
While guests will find standard spa offerings, like a Swedish massage and brightening facials, they can also book custom golf treatments such as the Tee Up, which is intended to “improve your golf swing and up your game,” using acupressure techniques. For those who like to maintain their workout routine while traveling, the resort also has an expansive fitness center.
Family-friendly Offerings
Omni PGA Frisco Resort & Spa is an ideal option for families traveling in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. There are kid-friendly pools (though there’s also an adults-only rooftop pool), a dedicated kiddie pool, and a splash pad. The spacious suites are perfect for families and multigenerational groups. On-site restaurants often have kid-friendly meal options, while family movie nights and s’mores are a frequent feature on the events calendar.
In 2026, Universal Kids Resort will open a Universal Studios theme park in Frisco, and the Omni PGA Frisco Resort & Spa will be a natural choice for families seeking a place to stay in the area.
Accessibility and Sustainability
There are 15 accessible rooms at the Omni PGA Frisco Resort & Spa, which are outfitted with roll-in showers with grab bars, telephones with hearing assistance, and visual door alerts.
All hotels within the Omni portfolio, including this one, follow the brand’s environmental stewardship values. This involves actively working to lower their carbon footprint by using eco-friendly laundry detergents, sourcing products from local farms for their restaurants, switching to LED lightbulbs, and investing in electric vehicles.
